I'm so addicted to this

In fact any time the TV defaults to Animal Planet, I can't change the channel. Fala likes watching the Meerkats also.

Armadillo Clay here doesn't have the mold builder materials that I need to start casting gnomes in time for flipside. Can anyone point me in the right direction to get some fast? Anyone have any extra? Can't spend too much on it, but hope to find something suitable. Thanks!

Who owns water?

You've heard most of this before, though it's easy to put this issue on the back burner. There are some things we can do to help. Use less water, don't buy bottled water, boycott Neslie, fight companies like, Suez, from controlling the world water market, don't use pesticides in your yard. If I could afford it , I'd get an infinity pool which uses less water. Most of our lawn is watered with grey water from our septic system, though I wish we had the money to dig up the existing lawn, or the edges not watered and put something in that requires a lot less water, or no water from the hose.

Texas Independence Day

[Wish I had known about this earlier, but perhaps a few of you are more flexible with your plans. Sounds like fun.]

Today your favorite art gangsters from the Enchanted Forest and the promotional ninjas at Ad Bongo are hosting a special event for everyone's favorite unknown holiday - Texas Independence Day!  Never heard of it? Well, you will after this!  Come out early and bring the kids or come late for the space cowboy party.  There will be lots of attractions, like a giant rocking horse, cowboy storytelling, a horseshoe competition, glow-in-the-dark armadillos, and a real live enormous longhorn that you can get your picture with!  The Lovers are headlining, along with other great local bands and performers. Come on out and get your space cowboy groove on...

Stop by for the festivities and to check out a new locally owned place!  The celebration has already started and The Lovers play at 8:30pm.

Some of the specials include Texas beers $2, Luckenbach Lemonade $3, Bonfire Ribs $10, Veggie Kabobs $8, Grilled Quail $11, and Kids meals $4.95.

Bread maker advice?

My MIL wants to get us a breadmaker for Xmas. Mine wore out a long time ago and not sure what is a good modestly price maker currently. I'm not 100% gung ho on this as they take up so much room.Though they can be nice when you want to make a nice gift for someone and nothing like the smell of bread in the morning if you program it.

Thoughts, anyone?

Sorry haven't been online much lately (several weeks now). Try to check personal email or deal with medical bills but not much else. Taking a chemo break but still having lingering side effects. Anyone know of GI specialist in Austin who can work wonders? :)

Just realizing I may never get caught up with the reading. Will try and skim through and do the best I can. Please shoot me an email or even post a note here if there was something posted the last month or so that you want me to know about. Thanks for understanding.

[Have attended a few Nia classes in SF and loved it. I can't do anything like this for the moment, but when I get better I would so love to schedule some Nia into my life again. If you're looking to try something new for exercise, it's sort of a combo of yoga, martial arts and dance. I had a blast at the classes I attended.]

Saw an ad in the Chronicle for this event:

“Nia Jam” to Celebrate Nia’s 25th Anniversary

Friday, August 29th, 7:00 – 8:15pm

Cost: A suggested donation of $15 per person
JoyMoves will be donating the entire proceeds of the Nia Jam to Safeplace (formerly known as the Austin Center for Battered Women)

About the Nia Jam
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Nia, we’ll be putting on a Nia Jam—which is basically a fun and especially playful Nia class co-taught by our Nia teachers. We’ll have some light refreshments so that people can socialize for about an hour afterwards. Please come and bring your friends. The Nia Jam will be an “all-levels” class open to “newbies” and “beginners,” as well as to all of JoyMoves’ current members.

Registration and pricing information
To pre-register, either call JoyMoves at 328-4440 or click on the button below. Space is limited to 35 participants so please register early.

Refunds will be permitted if requested by Friday August 22nd.

If you like Cirque de Soleil, or dance/acrobatic performances, China is really putting on the most amazing spectacle I've ever seen. We're recording it to DVR. Maybe we can do a viewing here soon?

Great owner, 20s decor, not too frilly but you can get good teas and a bite, and even a full tea service, if  you're into that ( or want to try it). The owner Will is fabulous. He offered to help me with any questions I have if I wanted to start a similar place in Austin. Perhaps, a pipe dream but I have spent a lot of time dreaming of owning some sort of tea shop. Good quality, well prepared tea tastes so much better than the tea bag stuff. Plus having tea parties for showers and girls' birthdays could provide a decent income. Just my musings.

Happy Birthday

[info]chainlynx is coming to Austin for a few days, I think July 3 -6? Want to check out fun dance places/events. Musics preferred: old school goth, electronica, industrial, dark trance, belly dance/tribal, 80s, (or other suggestions). Anything going on during this time that I should check out? Thanks!!!!

Bob Mrly

Last night

[info]khopri and I celebrated our 5th year anniversary. I spent about 8 hours of the day being very ill, but managed to get out the door and we had a lovely dinner at 8:00pm at the beautiful Hudson's on the Bend restauarant. Thanks to the love of my life, for putting up with me for 5 years. This man deserves a medal, and a cookie too.
